Velveteen Rabbit

Downtown Las Vegas has a new bar for patrons who like their craft cocktails with a shot of whimsy. Sisters Pamela and Christina Dylag created Velveteen Rabbit, a little-known gem of a parlor in the arts district. The Victorian-style space features conversation-starting nooks adorned with mismatched period furniture in purple and yellow hues. Other touches include fresh flowers, a stenciled rabbit atop a whiskey sour, and draught handles fashioned from mannequin hands with everything from $3 Schlitz to $20 local brews on tap.

El Loco at Circus Circus Hotel and Casino

The Adventuredome, the all-indoor amusement park at Circus Circus, debuts El Loco this December. The compact roller coaster, which covers 1,300 feet of track in 75 seconds, delivers dives at negative 1.5 Gs and makes 45-degree turns and barrel rolls within a relatively small footprint. The second of its kind in the country (the first is in Indiana), the coaster replaces the Rim Runner flume ride, one of the theme park’s original attractions when it opened in 1993.

Sky Combat Ace

Sky Combat Ace has taken a page from E.L. James’ popular novels with its new 50 Shades of Las Vegas package.

A professional pilot takes you and a guest on a 30-minute romantic night flight in a Waco open-cockpit plane, remodeled from a 1930s aircraft. The 90-minute experience, which costs $599, also includes round-trip transportation from your resort in a limo, as well as chocolate-covered strawberries and champagne.
