In 1938, two extraordinary entrepreneurs, Lawrence Frank and his brother-in-law Walter Van de Kamp, brought to life Lawrence’s daring vision of a restaurant serving just one entree, roasted prime ribs of beef. Lawry’s The Prime Rib in Beverly Hills was born. Guests experienced the warmth, comfort and elegance of a Sunday family dinner while enjoying what Lawrence called “the best meal in America.” Just as they did over 75 years ago, roasted prime ribs of beef roll to the table in gleaming silver carts, master carvers cut to order, and servers in traditional uniforms stand on tiptoe to pour dressing on the famous Spinning Bowl Salad. It’s a show that blew people away then and still draws gasps of delight. Today, third- and fourth-generation Lawry’s family members continue to offer this timeless, one-of-a-kind experience to diners every night.
