Prudential brews prize-winning chili for animals in need

With a Cat in the Hat themed booth and a 1st prize-winning chili, Prudential California Realty made a substantial and positive contribution to the 15th Annual Pet Parade and Chili Cook-Off. The event, which was hosted by the Laguna Board of Realtors, raised $18,000 for the Laguna Beach Animal Shelter, Bluebell Cat Foundation, and Pacific Marine Mammal Center.

Prudential Laguna Beach also received top honors for best booth, thanks in large part to the

efforts of Rosie Poole, a marketing representative from Pickford Escrow. “It was really gratifying to see so many of our neighbors come out to support such a great cause,” Poole said. “I would like to thank everyone that worked so hard to make this happen, including Candice Burroughs and Jeane Powell, but especially our culinary genius Delores Sherman for making such excellent chili.”

“I always look forward to participating in this event,” Sherman said. “It provides a fun way for

me to connect with my friends in the community while at the same time benefiting local charities. I would like to thank Larry McLane of Home Services Lending for helping out, his corn fritters are legendary.”

A silent auction for pet houses constructed and donated by local architects also raised a significant amount of funds, with prices ranging from $650 to $2,600. The Project Pet House, Best chili and best booth honors as it was named, allowed the went to Prudential Laguna Beach architects to exercise their creativity in constructing whimsical and elaborate designs.

One of the more notable houses up for auction was the “cattage,” which sold to Prudential agent Jim Ardery, who then donated it to the Bluebell Cat Foundation.
