esencia is the second village on the 23,000-acre rancho mission viejo (“The ranch”), where approximately 75% of the land has been designated as preserved open space known as The reserve at rancho mission viejo and only 25% will be crafted into inter-generational villages
over the coming years. In addition, rancho mission viejo is planned to include sites for
parks and schools, miles of multi-user trails, recreational
clubhouses, community farms, civic uses, child care centers, places of worship and up to 5 million square feet of non-residential uses including shopping, dining and employment centers. esencia k-8, part of the acclaimed Capistrano Unified school district, is slated to open at esencia in 2018.
The first village to be developed on The ranch was the now sold out village of sendero. The second village on The ranch is esencia (spanish
translation: the essence), set atop some of the highest elevations of The ranch.
The initial collection of neighborhoods offered for sale at esencia are part of The Canyon House Neighborhoods, where the remaining selection of homes are currently priced from the high $400,000s to over $1 million, including four “Gavilan” neighborhoods of primarily single story homes for the 55-plus crowd.
