Major league pitcher and former Dodger Zack Greinke has put his two-structure compound in Studio City on the market for $7.55 million. He bought the home five years ago for $4.575 million, records show.

Set on a leafy foothill lot of more than an acre, the gated Craftsman estate was designed by architect Ray Keller and designer Dixon Chang to evoke the works of seminal Arts and Crafts movement figures Charles and Henry Greene.

The three-story house was completed in 2012 and boasts a wide roof, deep eaves with rafter tails, and tapered stone columns that are emblematic of the style that originated in the late 19th century. Custom stained-glass clerestories filter natural light in the three-story entry. The custom millwork and pitched ceilings are done in maple, as are the doublehung and leaded-glass casement windows.

The 10,015 square feet of interior space includes on the main floor a home theater, a gym, an office and areceiving room with a wet bar. The second level is largely devoted to open-plan space and has a chef’s kitchen, living and family rooms and a dining room. There are five fireplaces with stone surrounds.

Designed for indoor-outdoor living, nearly all of the home’s seven bedrooms have doors that open to the outside. The top-floor master suite comprises eight rooms, including his and her bathrooms, a receiving room and an office/nursery.

From the main residence, a wooden bridge crosses under an oak tree before reaching the onebedroom guesthouse.

Late rocker’s retreat is on the market

Aretreat owned by rocker Tom Petty at the time of his death is on the market in Lake Sherwood, an area near Thousand Oaks, for $5.495 million. A year ago the home was listed for $5.895 million, records show.

Set at the end of a steep road on aprivate cul-de-sac, the rustic home has three bedrooms and three bathrooms within its 5,300 square feet of living space. There are lake and mountain views from the master suite, living and dining rooms and balconies.

Built in 1931 and later expanded, the house features hardwood floors, vaulted and beamed ceilings and a massive fireplace in the great room. Locally sourced fieldstone lines the exterior, the courtyard entry and parts of the interior.

Outdoors, lush landscaping and mature olive and cypress trees give the property a relaxed vibe. At the edge of the property is 125 feet of lake frontage, a boat ramp and a dock.

Petty, who died last year at 66, gained fame in the late 1970s as the frontman of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. The band’s hits include “Breakdown,” “Free Fallin’”and “Don’t Do Me Like That.”

The singer-songwriter later embarked on a successful solo career that included the albums “Full Moon Fever” and “Highway Companion.”

Petty bought the home more than a decade ago for about $4.41 million, records show.

A lot in common with the neighbors

Actors Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen, through a trust, have bought a home in a familiar Santa Monica neighborhood for $5.15 million, or $350,000 over the asking price.

Sitting on a leafy lot of about half an acre, the traditional-style home is next-door to another property owned by the couple’s trust.

Built in 1922 and since updated, the shingled two-story has three bedrooms and 3.75 bathrooms within nearly 4,000 square feet of interior space.

Awide front porch runs across the front of the home, which opens to a sunlit living and dining room with a river rock fireplace. Other spaces include a family room, an updated kitchen and a wine cellar. Aone-bedroom guest apartment has its own entrance.

The property came to market in November and sold in less than two months, records show. Isabelle Mizrahi and Dolly Niemann of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties were the listing agents. Chrys Stamatis of Coldwell Banker represented the buyers.

Danson, 70, has scores of credits, including the sitcom “Cheers” and the shows “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation,” “Fargo” and “Damages.”

He currently stars in the NBC comedy “The Good Place.”

Steenburgen, 64, won an Oscar for her supporting role in the 1980 film “Melvin and Howard.” She appears on the sitcom “The Last Man on Earth.”

He’s working on a new score

Robert Kraft, the former president of Fox Music and founder of Kraftbox Entertainment, has listed his home in Encino for sale at $2.499 million.

The traditional-style two-story, built in 1937 and well maintained, sits behind hedges and a gated driveway on slightly more than a third of an acre. The grounds include drought-tolerant landscaping, brick planters, a heated swimming pool with a spa, lawns and patios.

Within the 4,502 square feet of living space are four bedrooms, four bathrooms, a skylight-topped family room and a library. Large bay windows bring light and leafy views into the dining room and formal living room, which has a fireplace.

The chef’s kitchen features a large island.

In the top-floor master suite, there are vaulted ceilings with skylights, a claw-foot tub and French doors that open to a balcony.

During his tenure at Fox Music, Kraft supervised the scores and soundtracks for more than 300 films, including “Avatar,” “Titanic” and “Moulin Rouge.”

Also a songwriter, producer and film score composer, he coproduced the Oscar-winning song “Under the Sea” from “The Little Mermaid” and produced the Grammy-nominated soundtrack for “The Muppet Christmas Carol.”

He founded Kraftbox Entertainment, a music/media production and management company, in 2013.

Soul-ful sale for a Motown legend

Grammy-winning gospel and soul singer Gladys Knight and her husband, William McDowell, have sold their Las Vegas home for $720,000.

The Mediterranean-style home, built in 1971, sits off a privately gated street on half an acre.

The grounds include a large motor court and a swimming pool. Designed for entertaining, a separate bonus room and additional kitchen sit off the pool and patio area.

The two-story house opens to a two-story entry and a sunken living room with beamed ceilings and one of four fireplaces.

Above the living area is the main kitchen, which has two sinks, alarge island/breakfast bar and a wealth of open-plan space. Two of the six bedrooms have glass doors that lead to a front-facing balcony. Four bathrooms are within the more than 6,500 square feet of living space.

There’s also a professional recording studio.

Knight, 73, found success in the late 1960s recording for Motown Records with her group Gladys Knight & the Pips, with songs such as “I Heard It Through the Grapevine” and “Take Me in Your Arms and Love Me.”

She embarked on her solo career in the late1980s and has released a number of solo albums, including “Good Woman” in 1991.
