Colony theatre

TheColony Theatre Company began its distinguished history of continuous production in 1975 when it was incorporated as anonprofit organization by agroup of young actors eager to return to their theater roots. It remained in residence at the Studio Theatre Playhouse in Silver Lake for the next 25 years.

During that time, through commitment to quality in its productions, the company built the largest subscriber base of any small theater in the area. By the early 1990s, Colony shows were virtually sold out before they opened. The company moved into its Burbank location in 2000, officially becoming the Colony Theatre Company in Residence at Burbank Center Stage.

Over the last 40 years, the theater has evolved from a small ensemble into an established, award-winning company. It has received countless awards for excellence, including the honor of being named one of “25 Notable U.S. Theater Companies” by the Encyclopedia Britannica Almanac.
