The inaugural Authors & Artists program at the Glendora Public Library will feature Jerry Burgan, author of “Wounds To Bind: A Memoir of the Folk-Rock Revolution.”

Burgan is co-founder of the Grammy-nominated folk-rock group We Five, best known for its hit records “You Were on My Mind” and “(Let’s) Get Together.”

The musician-turned-author, whose memoir is now in its second printing, will make a special appearance at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, at the Glendora Public Library, 140 S. Glendora Ave., Glendora.

Copies of his book, which chronicles the group, the music of the 1960s, and the times when everything seemed to be changing, will be available in hardbound or paperback for purchase and signing, with a share of profits going to the GPL Friends Foundation.

Burgan will be joined for the event by We Five veterans Debbie Graf Burgan (his wife and a Glendora native), bassist Tholow Chan, and other special guests for an evening of music, readings from his book, a questionand-answer period, and an opportunity to discuss the events that shaped the lives of everyone who lived during the period when 80 million baby boomers came of age.

Little Free Libraries The Glendora READS!

Literacy Celebration will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 27, in the Bidwell Forum at the Glendora Public Library.

Adult Literacy Program Coordinator Mary Pat Dodson is using the “Little Free Library” campaign to draw attention to the need for adult literacy programs that help adults who struggle with reading. A Little Free Library is a “take a book, leave a book” neighborhood library that makes literature accessible to everyone, and many have popped up around Glendora.

This year, California Library Literacy Services celebrates 30 years of providing funding and support for adult literacy programs throughout California, including Glendora READS!

Adult Literacy Program.
