Planes of Fame Air Museum will present Planes of Fame Air Show, May 6 and 7 at the Chino Airport.
Celebrate the history and sacrifices of veterans and aviation pioneers – and commemorate the “60th Anniversary of Planes of Fame Air Museum.”
This year’s air show features more than 50 historic aircraft, including:
• U.S.A.F. F-35 Lightning II Heritage Flight Team
• N9MB Flying Wing Demonstration
• Sea Fury Aerobatics by Sanders Aeronautics
• Jelly Belly Airplane, Greg Colyer T-33 Aerobatics
• Rob Harrison and the Tumbling Bear
• Some 40 WWII aircraft, including the F4U Corsair, B-25 Mitchell, P-40 Warhawk and P-51 Mustang.
There will be panel discussions with veterans, displays of military vehicles, a ‘Kids Zone’, food, drinks and vendors.
Although the Allies produced more than 300,000 military aircraft during World War II, most were destroyed within just a few years of the war ending in 1945.
Planes of Fame Air Museum was founded in Claremont and doors first opened in 1957. At that time, it was simply called “The Air Museum.” The original collection consisted of just 10 airplanes. The museum has grown to more than 150 aircraft, more than 50 of which are flyable.
Air Show hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, May 6-7.
Free admission 11 years and under, general admission $25.
