For far too many children in Los Angeles, violence is a daily fact of life. In some areas, children risk their lives just to get to school each morning. But there is hope.

For nearly 110 years, Children’s Institute, Inc. (CII) has helped children in Los Angeles’s most challenged communities heal from the trauma of family and community violence, build confidence and skills to break through the barriers of poverty and grow up to lead healthy, productive lives. We serve more than 24,000 children and family members annually at nearly 40 locations across Los Angeles County.

At CII, we believe children’s futures should not be determined by their zip codes.

In the communities we serve – Central and South Los Angeles – children face enormous odds. But CII has created one of the nation’s strongest models for working with vulnerable children. We are committed to doing whatever it takes to help children recover from trauma, build resiliency to handle adversity, and become ready for success in school, work and life.
