
In 2018, Irvine Barclay Theatre is significantly expanding its acclaimed
ArtsReach initiative with an eclectic menu of arts experiences.
Stressing hands-on interaction, the innovative educational programs
offer students unparalleled access to the Barclay's main-stage artists.
These once-in-alifetime experiences pique interest, and foster greater
appreciation and understanding of the arts.
This season's ArtsReach programming includes:
Contemporary DanceStudents
will enjoy ArtsReach activities with renowned dance companies - Dance
Theatre of Harlem, Diavolo, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, and
Aspen-Santa Fe Ballet, and with flamenco great, Eva Yerbabuena.
JazzElementary
students will participate in agetailored workshops with the musicians
of the acclaimed JazzReach program and also enjoy an interactive,
multi-media, performance at the Barclay.
OperaStraight from Metropolitan Opera, Alyson Cambridge, will introduce students to the real world of opera.
Music & TechnologyOrgan
virtuoso Cameron Carpenter will reveal the art and science behind his
International Touring Organ, a groundbreaking digital organ of his own
design.
Cultural TraditionsAuthentic hula royalty,
Halau O Kekuhi, will share practices transmitted through a matrilineal
succession of eight generations of hula masters.
Reimagined AmericanaThe Bumper Jacksons will engage students through their exhilarating repertoire of modern American roots music.
