The animals at The Gentle Barn have experienced abuse and severe neglect. Their treatment and rehabilitation is extremely expensive and can take an extended period of time, but it is well worth it. Once rehabilitated, the animals become ambassadors, teaching children about the magic and grace of these precious beings.

About Us

The Gentle Barn is a national nonprofit organization, founded in 1999 as a sanctuary and place of recovery for severely abused animals and children. We rescue and rehabilitate animals from severe abuse and neglect who are too old, sick, lame, or scared to be adopted. The Gentle Barn offers a unique philosophy of connecting the animals’ stories of survival and healing to the personal experiences of underserved and special needs children who have suffered physical, mental or emotional trauma to help them learn empathy, trust and forgiveness.
