The music that ignited a generation is about to set the Strip on fire.

Grab your crimping iron, fire up the fog machine and pour yourself into your finest Spandex, because “Rock of Ages” is the hottest ticket in town.

The high-octane musical begins its Vegas residency on Dec. 18 at the Venetian Las Vegas.

“Rock of Ages” is set on the Sunset Strip of 1987, when hair was big and rock egos bigger. It tells the story of aspiring rocker Drew and wouldbe starlet/innocent Midwesterner Sherrie, who meet at the fictional Bourbon Room, a stand-in for the Whisky a Go Go.

Drew and Sherrie are on the fast track to misty-eyed love when along comes sinister rock god Stacee Jaxx to mess things up. Sherrie ends up working a stripper pole and Drew’s record company forces him into a boy band.

Meanwhile, two evil developers are bent on razing the Bourbon Room to purge the Strip of sex, drugs and rock ’n’ roll.

Plot twists unfold to a double LP’s worth of 28 classic, feel-good, singout-loud rock anthems, including “Don’t Stop Believin,” “We Built this City,” “Wanted Dead or Alive,” “Here I Go Again” and “I Wanna Know What Love Is.”

After the show, audience members can retire to the Venetian’s real-life Bourbon Room lounge for a Bartles & Jaymes wine cooler, music videos and more hair-band rock hits.

“Rock of Ages” is directed by Southern California’s own Kristin Hanggi, with a book by Chris D’Arienzo.

Hanggi is familiar to Los Angeles audiences from the Ovation Awardwinning pop opera “Bare.” She also directed the production that launched the Pussycat Dolls at the Roxy.

“Rock of Ages” was nominated for five Tony Awards, including best musical and best direction of a musical for Hanggi.
