ELECTRIC DAISY CARNIVAL RETURNS TO LAS VEGAS

With enough amplified bass to blow out your eardrums and enough neon to outshine the Vegas Strip, the Electric Daisy Carnival — coming to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway June 17 through 19 — is an electronic dance lover’s Shangri-La.

Join more than 300,000 revelers at this mammoth three-day rave, which features large-scale art installations, carnival rides, circus-style performances and more than 200 of the world’s top dance music artists across eight stages. Insomniac has been producing the event since 1997 and today it’s the biggest electronic dance music festival outside Europe, earning it the nickname the “American Ibiza.” Vegas is considered among the top spots to experience the spectacle.

The 1,000-acre speedway will be transformed into a neon-lit playground, complete with mind-warping visuals and next-generation special effects. You’ll encounter a menagerie of performers, from dancers and stilt-walkers to clowns. The fairgrounds include Ferris wheels, slides and swings, along with food trucks.

Electric Daisy Carnival is once again partnering with eBay for its “EDC Week Charity Auction,” allowing fans to bid on experiences such as behind-the-scenes tours, helicopter rides and passes to Insomniac events. Proceeds will go to the Shade Tree, a Las Vegas-based shelter for women, children and pets that are victims of domestic abuse.

The event starts at 7:30 p.m., but it doesn’t really get going until after midnight. The last headliner will probably wrap up around sunrise, so be prepared for an all-nighter.
