Since transitioning into management I’ve noticed that the most successful organizations constantly plan and prepare for the future. Part of the way that we do this at Prudential is to make ongoing training programs available for our up and coming management candidates.

It’s been a little surprising to me to see that the concept of succession planning hasn’t been embraced by more real estate brokerages. At Prudential we believe that this idea is essential to the future growth and prosperity of our company.

Of course, it’s all about delivering a superior result for our clients. To provide our buyers and sellers with an exceptional standard of service, we focus on quickly identifying our future leaders, helping them develop their talents and placing them on a career path that matches our long-term goals.

Promoting from within ensures that our management has a thorough understanding of the real estate industry and all of our policies, as well as the many benefits of having our name connected to Berkshire Hathaway. Having the most respected name in the business world as the owner of our company allows us to pass on to our clients a wealth of advantages and resources!

We believe that the message we send to our agents and employees by promoting from within is also very important. When our agents and employees see that we are committed to their professional growth and development it creates a stronger sense of solidarity and teamwork, purpose and dedication—in short, a positive experience for our clients, now and into the future.

We have established a series of three full-day workshops in Orange County to familiarize our candidates with everything that our company offers. Candidates are nominated by their managers to attend theses workshops and attendance is limited to just 14 people.

The first day is dedicated to show our candidates how to foster a working environment that is beneficial to our agents and their clients. An environment that is creative, supportive and always focused on utilizing the latest tools aimed at enhancing the real estate experience. This first day is

taught by three different successful managers from our network of offices within Orange

County, San Diego County and Los Angeles County.

The second day details the inner workings of our company, to ensure that our future

managers can seamlessly transition into their new roles. A variety of topics are covered,

from profit and loss statements and other accounting documents, human resources

processes including hiring and performance evaluations, to all of our legal resources such

as contract management and arbitrations. These classes are conducted by our chief

financial officer, vice president of human resources and senior legal counsel.

The third day explores the use of cutting-edge technology, which is necessary to stay ahead

in the modern real estate environment; as well as the newest marketing opportunities.

Video presentations of sales meetings are also analyzed, to demonstrate to our candidates

how to communicate effectively. All of these classes are conducted by successful managers who excel in these areas.

When a company is smart enough to provide for the future, everyone benefits.
