Seeking an heir to his Malibu throne
Philanthropist Steve Hilton, a grandson of late hotel scion Conrad Hilton and the former president of the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, has put his oceanfront home in Malibu on the market for $10.4 million.
Found within gated Malibu Cove Colony, the three-story house was renovated in 2010 by architect Jay Vanos and has surffacing decks extending off each floor. Sweeping views take in the nearby Paradise Cove Pier, coastline and Catalina Island.
The 3,385 square feet of refined interiors feature walls of floor-toceiling glass, light hardwood floors and cabinets built to
resemble art installations. Adding an exotic touch, a circular staircase
wraps around a custom saltwater aquarium at the entrance to the home.
An
open living room with a fireplace, a modern chef’s kitchen, an
office/den, four bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms lie within the floor plan.
The master suite has a fireplace, a sitting area and a glassenclosed
steam shower. Skylights and glass partitions filter natural light
throughout the interiors.
Awalled
courtyard sits off the entrance and contains a tiled hot tub and an
outdoor fireplace. There’s also an attached two-car garage.
Hilton
bought the house from the estate of late actor Robert Ridgely in 2007
for $7.1 million. An avid surfer, he intends to find a new home closer
to his favorite surfing spot.
Kate Pritchett-Skene of Pritchett-Rapf & Associates holds the listing.
Hilton
joined the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation in 1983 and oversaw the
foundation’s worldwide humanitarian work. He previously held the
positions of chief executive and president for the foundation before
retiring at the end of 2015.
