FIND ALL THE COMFORTS OF HOME WHILE DINING ON THE ROAD
Traveling is an exploration of places, food, beverages
and people. But sometimes you want familiar flavors that make you feel at home.
Luckily for weekend warriors from Southern California, Las Vegas has become
more palate friendly with the addition of bites from across the state line.
If you’ve never had an Eggslut sandwich, the concept
of lining up for one might seem ridiculous. But they are that good. Founded in
2011 by Alvin Cailan, the concept is egg first, transcending breakfast and
appealing to all types of eaters. Plus, the name is fun. The Las Vegas location
opened in spring at the Cosmopolitan. In addition to its morning and early
evening hours, nightlife revelers can rejoice by hitting “the Slut”
post-clubbing with extended weekend hours from midnight to 7 a.m. The menu is well
edited with only a few items, but the Fairfax is a don’t-miss, with soft
scrambled eggs, chives, sharp cheddar, sweet caramelized onions and an
addictive slather of Sriracha mayo, all buried in a brioche bun.
The Canter’s Deli that was inside Treasure Island for
a few years flew under most visitors’ radar. But when the doors swung open at
Canter’s new location at the Linq Promenade in January, the past became a
distant memory — and deli lovers rejoiced. Canter’s at the Linq Promenade, like
the original in Los Angeles’ Fairfax district, is known for its 24-hour
service, piled-high hot pastrami and that matzo ball soup.
“A large majority of our guests are familiar with the
L.A. brands,” said Shaun Swanger, vice president and general manager of the
Linq Promenade & High Roller. “Canter’s Deli saw the unique blend of
tenants [at the Linq] and Gary Canter personally visited the property and
picked out their new location. He’s been intimately involved with the décor,
layout, menu and the feel of the space.”
No newcomer to Las Vegas, In-N-Out, which has been
infiltrating the valley over the past decade, will be making its first splash
on the Strip in December. The Linq Promenade is a prime location for the
legendary golden-state burger joint because of the insane amount of foot
traffic — tends of thousands — that passes by daily.
“This iconic brand offers a ‘Vegas must-do’ dining
experience that won’t be found anywhere else on the Strip,” Swanger said. “Our
vision for [the Linq] is to focus on experiences that are one-of-a-kind,
creating an urgency to visit.” And while we can all be pretty certain what the
marquee will offer, there’s always that “secret menu” to hack. Just Google it.
