SOME OF THE HOTTEST POOL PARTIES
Las Vegas’ pool party season is in full swing (it started in March), but
with so many options to choose from, it’s important to pinpoint exactly what
kind of experience you want beyond just sun and fun. In the desert, ironically,
there’s a pool party to fit every personality.
For the wild child
If champagne showers and bass-dropping deejay sets are what you crave,
Encore Beach Club, Daylight and Wet Republic are the trinity of good times.
On the north end of the Strip, EBC in Wynn Las Vegas, as it has become
affectionately known, puts the resort’s nightclub talent to good use during the
day, with Diplo, David Guetta and Kygo all featured. If you are lucky enough to
score one of the 26 cabanas, the luxe life awaits, with stocked refrigerators,
televisions and daybeds. And because Vegas is famous for its supreme
temperature control, the eight bungalows have a cooling system, as well as a
private restroom, balcony and infinity pool.
At Wet Republic in MGM Grand, major talents such as Steve Aoki, Zedd and
Tiesto are onstage regulars, but the place to be if you aren’t one of those
guys is in one of the ultra-pool’s six saltwater plunges. They’re best enjoyed
while mingling with a cocktail, cooling off from the sweltering heat. And even
without a cabana, Wet offers unique refuge with a 2,500-square-foot covered
open-air deck behind the stage.
At Daylight in Mandalay Bay, it’s anyone’s guess as to whether that major
splash you just felt was water or champagne. That’s because the menu offers
bottles for drinking and for spraying. Just make sure to save the good stuff
for the former. Rick Ross, Flume, J. Cole and Ice Cube all have hosted revelry
under the summer sun. And Daylight’s biggest clients (of whom you could be one)
expect cabanas with custom decor, extravagant seafood towers and even custom
entrance music — just like a fighter.
For the foodie
At sister resorts the Venetian and the Palazzo, it’s possible to pair
brunch with some vitamin D in a totally unexpected way thanks to Lavo
Restaurant and Tao Beach’s Brunch to Beach Sundays. Start with an Insta-worthy
prix fixe spread at Lavo for $55 that includes bottomless mimosas and a choice
of Nutella and banana crepes, chicken and waffles, almond-crusted French toast
and more. After you’ve snapped and snacked, move over to Tao Beach and chill on
a complimentary daybed with no food or beverage minimum.
From Monday to Thursday, soaking up the rays doesn’t have to end. And since
everyone’s got to eat, why not try lunch at Drai’s Café inside Drai’s Beach
club at the Cromwell. Deejays and dishes collide in a scene straight out of
Ibiza. Power lunch or poolside lounge, the menu includes items such as rice
bowls, chicken wings, sliders, sushi and poke.
