The Claremont Symphony Orchestra will offer an afternoon of music depicting folk tales, fairy tales and legends at its free, traditional Sunday-after- Thanksgiving concert. Under the direction of CSO’s Associate Conductor, Dr. Ruth Charloff, the orchestra will perform music by Sibelius, Prokofiev, Rimsky- Korsakov, Weber and Suk. The afternoon’s stories and characters include Oberon, king of the woodland fairies; the legendary Snow Maiden of Russia, and Sibelius, creating the haunting call of the swan that guards the mythological Isle of the Dead. The free concert will be 3:30 on Sunday, Nov. 29, at Bridges Hall of Music on the Pomona College campus in Claremont.
