Downtown Kind of Picnic
Rooftop venue is perfect for picnic, play, party and
pool time
Downtown Grand Las Vegas, which opened in late 2013 as
an urban oasis in the midst of mega resorts, continues to change up the
downtown game.
The latest installment at Downtown Grand, already home
to the throwback speakeasy Mob Bar and the industrial-chic casino bar Furnace,
is Picnic — a day-tonight destination on top of the hotel.
By day, the roof is part hotel pool, part grassy
retreat, with chaise longues and upscale picnic grub by Caesars’ former Central
chef, Todd Harrington. Unlike other Vegas pools that charge top dollar for a
cabana, Picnic offers affordable poolside hangouts for guests and Vegas locals
with a view of downtown.
When the sun goes down and the city lights come up,
Picnic’s 35,000 square feet of rooftop tranquility transform into a diverse
party space. Friday nights, go wild with Vegas’ hottest deejays — or for
something more chilled out, groove to Thursday night reggae. With an
entertainment lineup as diverse as downtown itself, Picnic promises something
for everyone.
“Downtown Las Vegas, like most urban epicenters, is
eclectic by nature,” Downtown Grand’s CEO Seth Schorr told the Vegas Guide.
“Downtown Grand has a wide range of guests and we have programmed the Downtown
Grand to have restaurants, entertainment and other activities that are
attractive to the different market segments.”
Combining the economy of hanging downtown with the
quality of a high-end Vegas venue, Downtown Grand is sticking to its mission
with Picnic.
“Everything we do at the Downtown Grand is high
quality. We believe in value, which means bringing a high-quality experience at
a reasonable price,” Schorr said. “Picnic is certainly an extension of this
philosophy. So much more than a hotel pool, Picnic will offer a high-quality
guest experience with the best entertainment downtown has to offer and a
service level that will compete with any venue in Las Vegas.”
